CJA Names New Principal
ORLANDO, FL — Covenant Journey Academy (CJA) is pleased to announce that Tim Matthews will join the team as the Principal of Covenant Journey Academy on June 1. When Tim assumes this position, Jeremy Hill will transition from Principal of CJA to Chief Compliance Officer.
Tim has worked in the field of education for more than 18 years as a Social Studies teacher for grades 9-12. He has experience teaching History, Government, Geography, and AP courses at the secondary and the college level, including E.C. Glass High School, an Adjunct Professor at Randolph College, an Adjunct Instructor for Virtual Virginia, and more.
Matthews also develops online curriculum for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Matthews is an ACSI-certified Principal. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Liberty University in Social Science with a teacher licensure, and a Master of Arts in History from Lynchburg College.
Beyond the classroom, Matthews has served as a Head Tennis Coach, Scholastic Bowl Coach, and was part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. With a pastoral heart for ministry and discipleship, Matthews frequently spends his free time teaching and mentoring young people outside of the classroom.
Tim, his wife Beth and their three children, Camden, Lacey, and Samuel reside in Lynchburg, Virginia and attend Heritage Baptist Church. He serves in the church youth group leading a small group for eighth grade boys. Tim has a heart for working with young people of all ages and wants to see them grow in their academics and their personal walk with the Lord.
Matthews looks forward to advancing CJA’s mission to empower students to pursue a relationship with Jesus Christ and courageously reflect a biblical worldview in all aspects of their lives.
