Human Coalition Action VP and Speaker Dean Nelson Named to Covenant Journey Academy Board
ORLANDO, FL – Human Coalition Action Vice President of Government Relations Dean Nelson has been named to the Board of Advisors of Covenant Journey Academy (CJA), a full-service K-12 online Christian academy available around the world 24/7/365.
Nelson is responsible for advancing the culture of life in the political sphere by building bridges, coalitions, and partnerships. He serves as Vice President of Government Relations for Human Coalition Action, a nonprofit whose aim is to build a pro-life, holistic, comprehensive care network to help rescue women and their children from abortion. Nelson has more than 20 years of demonstrated success directing nonprofit organizations, with an emphasis on urban strategies, grassroots organization, and national leadership training.
Nelson has worked for other major pro-life and Christian organizations, including Global Outreach Campus Ministries and Care Net, where he managed an annual budget of more than $1 million. As part of Wellington Boone Ministries’ senior strategic planning team, Nelson helped plant ministries in capital cities such as Richmond, Virginia; Atlanta; Washington, D.C.; and Raleigh, North Carolina. The United Way recognized him for his work in bringing people together for a common cause.
Nelson was recently appointed by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan to serve on the congressional Frederick Douglass Bicentennial Commission, whose mission is to honor the life and legacy of Frederick Douglass. Nelson also serves as the chairman of the board for the Douglass Leadership Institute. He is a sought-after speaker, giving frequent interviews on ABC and NBC affiliate networks in Washington, D.C. He has appeared on The 700 Club, CBN News, and MSNBC, and is a frequent guest on Christian radio, including programs on the Bott Radio Network and American Family Radio.
Nelson is a licensed minister from Salem Baptist Church in Marshall, Virginia, and an ordained pastor with Wellington Boone Ministries. He holds a B.A. in Rhetoric and Communication from the University of Virginia, and he completed post-graduate work at Coverdell Leadership Institute and Leadership Institute Campaign School.
Nelson and his wife, Julia, have three children and live in Maryland.
